Beef Short Rib Ragu with 2019 Bennett Lane Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

There is nothing I love more than sharing good food and good wine with friends.

One of my favorite meals to make is homemade pasta! I recently made tagliatelle with short rib ragu and it was absolutely delicious!

Pairing wine with pasta is always a blast because I love to use a bit of the wine in my sauce to make the flavors come together. Due to the fact that this pasta has a very rich, meat sauce, I chose to pair my pasta with the 2019 Bennett Lane Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.

I am a huge fan of Napa Cabs and I find the Reserve to be very unique. This wine has rich notes of earth and iron on the nose when first opened, but has the wine decants its develops into beautiful notes of deep blackberries, cassis, violets, baking spices and a hint of cedar.

Bennett Lane is located in the northern end of Napa Valley in the Calistoga AVA. This is one of the warmest spots in the valley, but is cooled by air coming from the Russian River Basin which gives the AVA the biggest diurnal shifts. This provides the grapes with the building blocks for incredible, age worthy wines like this beautiful bottle of 2019 Reserve Cabernet.

This is probably one of my favorite pairings to date! The combination of the rich meat and tomatoes is beautifully offset by the acidity and tannins of this wine. I definitely recommend a bottle for your next Italian dinner!
