Overview
Adelaida Vineyards is one of the original 10 wineries in the prestigious sub-AVA also called Adelaida in Paso Robles, California. Known for their Cabernet Sauvignons, they are now of their 35 vintage of this wine.
The property itself is stunning and lined with gorgeous walnut trees throughout the estate. After entering off the main road, you make your way through a private driveway that leads you to the stunning, private tasting room.
I love coming to wine country during harvest because you never know what you’ll get to see! We watched them build some wooden barrels and bring in some cases of grapes. So exciting!
The Wine
Their tasting menu was well balanced with a new white wine to the area, Picpoul Blanc that was nicely balanced with notes of apple, exotic fruits and grass that I very much enjoyed. We also tasted trough some other french varietals and ended on their classic Cab.
I was very surprised to learn that Adelaida Vineyards had a Pinot Noir on the menu. Its not typical of the Paso Robles region because the climate is usually way too warm, but because of its uniqueness in micro climates, there are small pockets where the weather is cool enough. It did not disappoint either!
My picks:
2016 Picpoul Blanc
2015 Barrel Select Cabernet Sauvignon
Atmosphere
Walking into Adelaida Vineyards, you are greeted by a vary spacious tasting bar in the center of the room, with couches and chairs off to the side, perfect for taking your time to taste or just to enjoy a glass of wine.
Adelaida also boasts having the highest view point in all of Paso that they call 2320 (named after the elevation level) where you can see some of the most beautiful sweeping views!
They also recently renovated their old tasting room into a private tasting area for their reserve flights. This was probably my favorite part of our visit because of all the beautiful little details they incorporated into the space including a display case of wines from over the years.
